In an effort to "put his money where his mouth is," David Symons of Symons Fire Protection in el Cajon, CA, initiated a new company policy for donating plans, materials and labor support to employees who wish to install a fire sprinkler system in their homes.

"After reading an article about HFSC Chairperson Gary Keith retrofitting his own home with sprinklers, I knew it was the right thing to do," explains Symons. "I believe in sprinkler systems. They work. And I believe that people in fire protection should do all they can to encourage fire safety."

"Sprinklers save lives," states David. "So naturally I want to encourage my employees to have them in their own homes. It shouldn’t be a case of the cobbler’s children having no shoes; we as an industry need to promote fire safety within the field."
