“I was cooking late one night and set off the smoke alarm. Then I realized something terrifying. My three sleeping children had no idea the alarm was going off. At the time, they were three, five and seven years old. Even though it was very loud, they never woke up. If there were a real fire, they wouldn’t be able to get out on their own. What more proof did I need that they weren’t safe enough?
Soon after that, my husband and I decided to protect our home with a fire sprinkler system. Today, we live in our second sprinklered home. Now if there’s a fire, the sprinkler system will control it or even put it out, keeping the heat and poisonous smoke from spreading throughout our house.
We chose sprinklers for peace of mind. I would never again live in a house that isn't protected by sprinklers.
I want every REALTOR® to know that children may not wake up to the sound of the smoke alarm. There’s also a good business reason to understand home fire sprinklers – they are a huge selling feature. They make my job easier, and my family safer at home.”
